Aqueos Corporation Moves into Boston Office Facility
Broussard, LA (March 30, 2022) – Aqueos Corporation, a marine construction and vessel contracting provider, recently announced they would be moving into their new Boston, MA, office facility at the end of March. According to Walter Aguilar, Aqueos Vice President of Civil, Military, and Renewable Services, the move was made so Aqueos could better serve the growing needs of renewable energy developers working in the US Northeast and to better support their existing customers in the region.
“In light of the current extremely challenging market conditions, it is more important than ever to maintain close contact with our customers. This new facility will provide a comfortable environment for our Boston-based personnel near a large percentage of our customer base,” states Aguilar. “Most importantly, Aqueos selected Boston, Massachusetts as we recognize The Commonwealth has set an ambitious agenda to become the national hub for the emerging offshore wind industry along the East Coast.”
For the past 22 years, Aqueos has primarily served the offshore oil and natural gas sector, but in 2020, they identified the demand to expand its operating lines to include the offshore Renewable Energy Sector. The Renewable Energy sector has seen, “encouraging recent state and regional policy and development activities suggest increasingly favorable prospects for OSW deployment, including the more streamlined auction process administered by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)3, opening up current unleased areas and new future lease areas off the coasts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York”, (Source) which will continue to drive offshore wind projects.
To respond to this demand and the need for a multi-purpose, Jones Act compliant vessel in the U.S., Aqueos acquired the MPSV Sea Scout in 2021 – a specialty-built, high speed, shallow draft Catamaran that is well suited for multi-mission offshore wind projects. The addition of the Sea Scout to their existing fleet of marine support vessels and their highly trained teams of Commercial Divers, ROV Operators, and Project Managers have positioned Aqueos for continued success in the Northeast as additional wind farms and renewable energy projects are sanctioned and come online.
